      Leonard Calvin Lemoine
      November 8, 1924 - April 27, 2009It is with great sadness that the family of Leonard (Len) Lemoine announce his passing on Monday, April 27 at his home in Burlington, Ont. He is survived by wife Joan Simpson, son Michael, his wife Louisa and son Gage, daughter Jennifer Spears, husband Doug and their daughters Stephanie and Jaclyn and daughter Wendy Piasentin, husband Albino and their son Paul and daughter Lisa. Born in Vernon, Ontario Len was the youngest of 10 children of Thomas and Christina Lemoine. Brothers Lloyd, Stanley, Morgan, Clarence, Gordon, Donald, Arnold have all predeceased him, along with sister Dorothy. He is survived by sister Hazel.

      Len grew up in Kenmore and graduated from Ottawa Teacher?s College before joining the RCAF in 1943. After the War he graduated from Queen's with a BA and then later a B.Ed from the University of Toronto. Len and Joan married in 1951 and he rejoined the RCAF where he served as an Education Officer and later Director of the NATO Language School in London. On returning to civilian life Len accepted a job as principal of Linbrook Public School in Oakville. In 1964 he was hired by the Canadian Int'l Development Agency as a specialist in second language teaching at Teacher Training Colleges in Kenya (5 years) and then Nigeria (3 years).

      In 1975 Len left teaching, moved to Wiarton, Ontario and obtained his real estate broker's license. His passions were travelling, history genealogy, writing, reading & golf . To be closer to their children Len and Joan moved to Burlington in 1995.

      A sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses, support staff, and the wonderful people at C.C.A.C. who cared for him. At Len's request there will be no funeral. Donations in Len's memory to the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington would be most appreciated.
